I have given many public lectures and presentations in Europe and elsewhere. These are not a one-way road for me. Comments and questions on my talks have greatly helped me sharpen my research projects and broaden my horizons. While I gave most lectures in the United States, the United Kingdom, Turkey, Austria as well as its neighbouring countries, I also deliberately ventured off what to a Western scholar may amount to the ‘beaten track’. Among other things, I traveled to all Central Asian states, lecturing at foreign ministries, universities and diplomatic academies.
